Investment management responsibility for the University of British Columbia's Endowment, Staff Pension Plan, Working Capital and other investment portfolios rests with UBC Investment Management Trust Inc. (IMANT).
Through a manager of managers approach, IMANT engages top tier investment management talent from around the world and provides comprehensive investment management expertise, modeled after the most successful university endowments in North America.
IMANT's role is to ensure that the assets under administration are managed to maximize investment returns commensurate with the distinct needs and risk parameters associated with each portfolio, as well as ensuring that each fund's short and long-term goals are met.
The independent structure of IMANT facilitates decision-making and leverages expert input at the investment management and board level, while implementing best investment management practices in a business activity not core to the University.
IMANT's team of investment professionals is complemented by an independent Board of Directors. The Board, comprised of members from the business community and the University, provides oversight and governance to the organization. The governance structure was established by the University's Board of Governors.
